• CZTS-based heterojunction nanodevices were successfully fabricated for dual functionality as solar cells and self-powered photodetectors.
• Rapid thermal processing (RTP) at 500 °C significantly improved crystallinity and surface morphology of CZTS films.
• The photovoltaic device with 3-min CdS deposition achieved a power conversion efficiency of 1.15%, outperforming the 5-min counterpart (0.97%).
• The fabricated devices exhibited self-powered photodetection capability, responding to wavelength-dependent light without external bias.
