• Adsorption mechanisms include ion exchange, precipitation, electrostatic attraction, and surface complexation, with metallic lead recovery via biochar reduction at high temperatures.
• The study offers a cost-effective and sustainable approach for heavy metal removal and biomass waste valorization.
